Sarah Goodman, MSW, RSW is a mother, a registered social worker, and a passionate supporter of mothers at all stages of their parenting journey. Sarah intimately understands that becoming a mother is hard. From trying to conceive, to loss, to pregnancy and motherhood, there are many stressors that can make you feel alone and overwhelmed. As someone who became a mom during the COVID-19 pandemic and experienced loss prior, Sarah quickly understood the importance of support throughout the journey to motherhood. Sarah is passionate about providing quality support to women in their most vulnerable moments. At a time when so much is asked of you, Sarah’s goal is to help mothers feel validated, supported, and cared for.
Throughout her career Sarah has supported parents, children, and families with mental health and parenting concerns. Clients are able to share their experiences in an open, casual, and non-judgmental space, and Sarah tailors treatment goals and interventions to her clients’ individual needs. Sarah has met individually with parents to process and validate their emotions and develop plans to cope with their children’s and their own mental health challenges. Sarah has also facilitated an evidence-based parenting group to support parents in understanding and managing their children’s mental health concerns. Sarah uses an eclectic approach influenced by cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), mindfulness, narrative therapy, motivational interviewing, emotion-focused family therapy (EFFT), and attachment- and trauma-informed lenses. Sarah is also a peer support volunteer at Sunnybrook Hospital’s Pregnancy and Infant Loss (PAIL) network.
Sarah earned her Master of Social Work from Wurzweiler School of Social Work at Yeshiva University in 2015. She is a member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) and the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW). Sarah has also completed advanced training through Postpartum Support International.
